Santa Barbara wine country is about 45 minutes north of the city of Santa Barbara. The Santa Barbara wine country has five distinct wine appellations. In the cooler climate areas Pinot Noir is widely grown. In the warmer areas, it is the Rhone varietals both red and white that do very well. The Santa Barbara wine country is centered around the town of Los Olivos.
