Santa Barbara wine country is about 45 minutes north of the city of Santa Barbara. The Santa Barbara wine country has five distinct wine appellations. In the cooler climate areas Pinot Noir is widely grown. In the warmer areas, it is the Rhone varietals both red and white that do very well. The Santa Barbara wine country is centered around the town of Los Olivos.

Foxen Canyon Wine Trail
This a fun wine country getaway. There are so many good wineries along this route. We like Curtis, Zaca Mesa, Foxen, and Rancho Sisquoc. Play a game of chess at Zaca Masa (huge chess pieces).
Santa Rita Hills Wine Trail
This appellation is close to the ocean so the cool temperatures and the breezes provide the ideal climate for growing Pinot Noir. There are many good Pinots along this route.
Santa Ynez Wine Trail
This tours offers a mix of interesting wineries. Visit Sunstone, Gainey, Kalyra, Rusack, and Rideau. Picnic at Rusack or Sunstone.
Visit Tasting Rooms in Los Olivos and Solvang
