Lovely California poppies at the Silver Oak Winery in Oakville – Napa Valley
This is the time to see California poppies in wine country. Here and there, California poppies can be seen growing at the edge of vineyards and in between the rows of emerging vines. It is a wonderful sight and even more so these days because of our California drought conditions. The California poppy is one of our native plants and thus thrives even under drought conditions. It reminds us that thoughtful landscaping designed of native plants need little water to thrive. The above photo was shot a couple years ago in mid-April. The winery is the famous Silver Oak Winery in the Oakville AVA. Poppies can be found in Sonoma, Mendocino, Santa Barbara, and all of California wine country.
