Hopland is a sleepy town in Mendocino County. You can easily guess how Hopland got its name. Hops no longer grow in this area, but grape vineyards abound. The wine AVA is Mendocino County, but there are two smaller AVAs in the Hopland area, Potter Valley and Redwood Valley.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Hopland is only 30 minutes from the fashionable wine country town of Healdsburg. Yet, the two places are worlds apart. Things move at a much slower pace in Hopland. There about 18 wineries in the area, but we have selected a handful for your enjoyment. We love visiting each of these wineries and find them to be exciting and fun.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

How do we get there<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

Hopland is 45 miles north of Santa Rosa and 100 miles north of San Francisco. Highway 101 runs through the town of Hopland, so no trouble finding the town.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Where do we stay<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

In the town of Hopland, there are two excellent places to stay. The Thacher Inn has recently been restored. It is historic and a very grand hotel. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Staying in Hopland is cool!<\/p>\n\n\n\n

To the South, Cloverdale and Geyserville offer accommodations that are less expensive. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
