Bruschetta food truck at Velo Vino

Bruschetteria Food Truck

Bruschetteria Food Truck at Clif Family Winery in St. Helena

Bruschetta food truck at Velo Vino -Clif Family Winery in St. Helena

What a fantastic idea and why haven’t more wineries thought of this? A food truck parked outside your tasting room? What a bonanza for the Clif Family Winery. The Clif Family calls their food truck the Bruschetteria and features a Northern Italian-inspired menu of farm fresh bruschetta, spiedini, salads, rotisserie chicken and sweet treats. Several of our wine friends and devoted readers asked if we had tried the Bruschetteria. We’d tried once on a Monday, but just our luck that was the truck’s day of rest. Last Sunday, we connected and a had fun time sharing three different bruschettas while sipping a refreshing dry Riesling produced by the Clif Family Winery. Ever since the Bruschetteria food truck opened a few months ago, Clif has seen a big increase in wine country travelers to their tasting room.

There are a few ways the food truck works. The simplest, you order your food from the truck. While waiting for your order, you select a table either inside the tasting room or outside in the garden patio. You order a class of wine from the tasting room, and by then you should have your delicious bruschetta. There were three to choose from on the menu on our visit: The Pomodoro, the Funghi, and the Porchetta. We ordered one of each, but two would have plenty for the three of us to share. Tasting room guests can also enjoy a bruschetta wine and food pairing between 12 and 4pm.  For $30 a person, three glasses of wine are served with three different bruschettas. Lastly, bicycle tours can pre-arrange food from the Bruschetteria truck for a buffet-style experience. All in all, it is a fun and casual way to dine in the Napa Valley.

Five unusual meals to try in the Napa Valley

August 7, 2015 by Joe Becerra

Napa Valley is known all over the world for fantastic wine, but good wine is even better with good food. All the things that make Napa a wonderful place for growing grapes and making wine, make Napa a dream come true for foodies everywhere. Next time you’re in the Napa area, try one of these yummy and unique dishes:

Breakfast

Do you want pizza for breakfast? You’re on vacation so you might as well indulge yourself. Visit Auberge du Soleil for a delicious breakfast pizza made with eggs and smoked salmon.

Lunch

Healthy food doesn’t have to be boring or pricey. Visit Fatted Calf at Oxbow Market to try a yummy Tomato Panzanella with roasted peppers, basil, buratta, and more.

Snacks

Visit the Clif Family Winery and finish off your trip with delicious and creative nut mixes. Pair a recommended wine with a toasted coconut and cashew mix or paprika almonds.

Dinner

If you’re looking for a meal that incorporates many of the fresh ingredients that make Napa Valley special, try the Tuscan Black Kale and Ricotta Agnolotti at Solage Calistoga. This meal incorporates apples, Brussels sprouts, and toasted walnuts to give you a taste of many of the delightful things Napa has to offer.

Dessert

If you’re looking for something more interesting than chocolate cake for dessert, stay at Solage Calistoga after your dinner and try out the carefully selected local cheeses on the dessert menu. Cheese will be served with fresh fruit, spiced nuts, and honey, and can be paired with wine to round out your meal.
Good wine deserves good food. Try out the unique eats above or share your own suggestions for delicious Napa Valley meals.

Napa Valley Bits & Pieces of Wine News: Tasting Room Booking Widget

January 17, 2010 by Joe Becerra

VinoVisit and Cellar Pass — Reservation system for tasting rooms

These two competing companies are battling toe-to-toe to sign up wineries with a new concept that is designed to attract wine country tourists to the tasting room. VinoVisit seems to have the head start with more wineries signed up plus a few publishers like our own Wine Country Getaways. The reservation widget for both companies will work much like widgets used by the Trip Adviser to find and book hotels or like Open Table to reserve a restaurant. With the tasting room widget the tourist will be able to book a tour, tasting, and other winery events. For VinoVisit, each winery in their system will have its own individual Widget on its Website, and publishers like Wine Country Getaways will eventually have a general Widget containing information on all the VinoVisit wineries. You can check out this page to see the current wineries using VinoVisit on WCG.
