Is the old Gordon’s Café and Wine Bar in Yountville set to reopen? We hope so! Remember, this was a popular spot among the locals but closed in 2007. Runners, walkers, and cyclists would convene here for their morning cup of java and other goodies. Later in the day, the wine bar, along with other good eats, was the big attraction. It was sold in 2007 to Leslie Rudd of Rudd Winery and Dean & DeLuca fame. It was gutted and the remodel process got started, but then suddenly everything came to a halt. The place remained in that condition until January of this year when new owner Frank Altamura (Altamura Vineyards & Winery) began construction to turn the old Gordon’s place into perhaps a pizzeria? We look forward to the resurrection of this cool hideaway.
Meritage Resort Expansion
The Meritage Resort and Spa in Napa has just completed a 19-month long expansion that added 165 guest rooms and suites. A new ballroom, the Carneros, has been added with 10,000 square feet of space for big events. Also added, a new fitness facility and the Crush Ultra Lounge, a sports bar with six bowling lanes for guests. The cost of the expansion was a cool 40 million dollars. Things must be booming in Napa!
Vino Velo Clif Family Winery
Friday, June 15th will be a celebration of the one-year anniversary of the opening of this unique tasting room in St. Helena. It has become a popular spot among cyclists, and to my knowledge the only tasting room anywhere in the wine world that caters to cyclists. And, oh yes, the Clif Family wine is very good. The celebration will be from 6 to 9 pm. There will be live music and food trucks. Ticket information.
Benessere Vineyards Garage Sale
If you are into garage sales, you might be interested in a winery garage sale. Benessere Vineyards is holding a Garage Sale on Saturday, June 9, from 11:00 a.m. until 3:00 p.m. The winery welcomes the public to come and taste vintage wines, enjoy a live band and a vintage car display, and have a catered lunch of your choice from a variety of food trucks.
