Healdsburg and Russian River Wine Trails
We gave the title, Healdsburg and Russian River to these fantastic wine routes for two reasons: Many wine tourists can quickly identify the wine country town of Healdsburg. Healdsburg is one of the best wine country towns in the world. Secondly, the Russian River runs from the north in Mendocino County through many wine areas of Sonoma County. The Russian River has a significant influence on the growing conditions for Pinot Noir and Chardonnay.
Please Note: Sonoma Wine Country is open to visitors and very busy. Most wineries in require reservations. Drop-in tasting is less available so plan ahead.
This wine region is vast and includes three major wine AVAs: Alexander Valley, Dry Creek, and the Russian River Valley. The entire area is in Sonoma County. We have a separate section for the Sonoma Valley. It is an entirely different geographic area and thus needs to have its own set of wine trails.
Why Healdsburg is at its finest in April, May, and June.
