On our wine country travels, we usually prefer to picnic among the vineyards at a winery. Occasionally, we decide to have lunch at one of the many fine restaurants in the Napa Valley. We look for a restaurant that is very relaxed and has a menu with salads and sandwiches. Of course, the place must have a wine list that has several choices for wines by the glass.

One such spot is the Cantinetta at Tra Vigne. It is right next to Tra Vigne, a wonderful restaurant that we like for dinner. But, the Cantinetta is one of our favorites for a lazy lunch on a sunny day. You can sit inside or out in a very laid-back atmosphere. You order inside at the wine bar and your food is brought to your table. Since the Cantinetta is also a wine bar, there are many choices for a glass of wine. tra-vigne.jpg

On our last visit, we both ordered the Pollo, a panini with grilled chicken, arugula, and piquillo peppers. For wine, we each had a glass of Spanish wine, a Verdejo, a wine that is very similar in aroma and taste to Sauvignon Blanc.

Another good thing about Cantinetta besides a tasty lunch is the price; it won’t break the bank. We got out of there for around $30.
