About the Anderson Valley Vineyards and Wineries

The beautiful Anderson Valley in Mendocino County is the land of cool climate grapes. This land is home to famous Anderson Valley vineyards and wineries.  Halfway between Cloverdale and the town of Mendocino lies this breathtaking land of wine. There are several outstanding wineries that lie between the town of Philo and the town of Navarro. The Pacific Ocean is just a short distance away and is a major influence on the climate of the Anderson Valley. During the summer months the mornings are foggy and very cool. In the early days of the Anderson Valley, vineyards and wineries were few. Fewer than ten wineries existed. From the late 90’s through the present many new wineries have been established in the Anderson Valley. Pinot Noir has become the main grape in this wine region. It is not unusual for Pinot Noir wines from this region to be priced above $40 a bottle. Alsatian style wines are also popular with Riesling, Pinot Gris, and Gerwurztraminer the predominant varieties.
