Why To Take a drive on Westside Road

Westside Road is one delightful wine country backroad. It is one of our favorites and we think the next time you are in the Healdsburg area, you should take a drive on Westside Road. Here is why. Not only will you find wonderful wineries, but the scenery is spectacular. This road begins on the outskirts of Healdsburg and winds its way to Russian River Road. Take Russian River Road to the tiny resort town of Guerneville on the Russian River. Westside Road spans two wine appellations, the Dry Creek Valley and the Russian River Valley. Two wineries we like in the Dry Creek Valley on this road are Armida Winery and Mill Creek Winery. Both have great picnic areas affording terrific views of the countryside. Continuing west on Westside Road we love to visit Bacigalupi Vineyards, Hop Kiln Winery, Porter Creek, and Korbel. All of these wineries are in the Russian River Valley. Korbel is one of the oldest wineries in California and has a great tour of the sparkling wine facilities. They also have a fabulous garden to view and a good deli for a lunch or snack. We love the Redwood Trees at Korbel, but if you really want to get into the deep Redwood Forest head to Armstrong Redwood State Park in Guerneville. It is also fun to view the Russian River and you can do that in Guerneville at the historic Johnson’s Beach. On Westside Road, you can find something for everyone.
