About Limerick Lane Wineries
Limerick Lane wineries are hidden and off the beaten path in the Russian River Valley near Healdsburg. Limerick Lane is only about a half a mile long, but a beauty of a wine country backroad. Christopher Creek Winery and Limerick Lane Cellars are the two most popular of the six wineries located on Limerick Lane. Viszlay Vineyards is tucked away and hidden from view midway up Limerick Lane. Housed in an old funky structure at 602 Limerick Lane are three very small wineries: Meitz Cellars, Mutt Lynch, and Deux Amis. Recently, the Limerick Lane Cellars and Christopher Creek have acquired new owners, and the latest vintages reflect worthwhile changes in wine quality. The best views are at the Christopher Creek Winery. Ask in the tasting room if you can take a hike up the vineyards behind the wine cellar. It is a short hike to the top of the vineyard. At the top of this vineyard is a wonderful view of rolling hills of vineyards that belong to the St. Francis Winery. These vineyards are at the north end of the Russian River Valley.
Limerick Lane is a very quiet road and one worth exploring by the wine country traveler. To get to the Limerick Lane wineries, take the Old Redwood Highway exit from Highway 101 and head west. When you see Foppiano Vineyards, the next left will be Limerick Lane. The photo above is of Merlot grapes, and the vineyard is located on the corner of Limerick Lane and Los Amigos Road. Although these vines look beautiful, the red leaves on the vines indicate that a vine disease has occurred. Shortly after I took this photo, the vineyard was replanted with other vines. Enjoy your travels and discoveries of the Limerick Lane wineries.
