Byington Vineyard & Winery – a hideway among the Redwood Trees on Bear Creek Road in the Santa Cruz Mountains

About Byington Vineyard in Santa Cruz Mountains

If you really want to get away on a wine country outing, we suggest an excursion to Byington Vineyard. The winery is secluded and hidden in the beautiful Santa Cruz Mountains. Byington Vineyard and Winery is located on Bear Creek Road and open for wine tasting on Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays, 11am to 5pm. There are three different routes to Byington. From the San Jose or San Francisco areas, take Highway 17 towards Santa Cruz and exit at Bear Creek Road. Turn left and travel on Bear Creek Road for 5 plus miles. From Santa Cruz you can take Summit off Highway 17 and turn left over the Highway. Continue on Summit until it dead ends at Bear Creek Rd. Turn left on Bear Creek Rd. and continue for 2 miles. Another route is to take Highway 9, turn on Bear Creek Road and continue on for 7 miles. Your journey will take you through some curving roads but the rewards are great at Byington. Pack a picnic lunch and sit at the tables and enjoy the serenity of this location. The winery makes several different varietals and Bordeaux blends. On the estate property, Pinot Noir  flourishes in the mountain and Redwood environment. Other grapes for the Byington wines are sourced from Santa Cruz and the Paso Robles area. The Byington winery also hosts many weddings and corporate events. One mile from Byington is the David Bruce Winery also on Bear Creek Road.
