I received this information from the American Sommelier Association and thought I would pass this on to our readers. In these economic times there are many out of work or in transition wanting to shift careers. Perhaps this intensive course may pave the way for a future career in the wine business. It appears that there are some scholarship funds that can reduce the cost of the training course by 50%.

American Sommelier Association

American Sommelier Association, a wine education organization headquartered in New York City will be hosting a 6-day Intensive Viticulture & Vinification Course in Napa Valley this summer for hospitality industry professionals and recreational consumers alike.

The Intensive training will be held Monday, July 25th through Saturday, July 30th at The Harvest Inn in St. Helena. This course is the second of our three-tier educational program; it delves into viticulture, vinification, and wine regions on an in-depth and academic level, from a sommelier’s perspective. In New York, Viti/Vini is currently offered as a 24-week program six times per year. Our Intensive Viti/Vini condenses six months of education into five full days of lecture and tasting—a sixth morning is reserved for the final exam. Students will receive a reading list and sample quiz upon registration, with guidelines on where to focus their studies and how best to prepare before classes begin. The Intensive course is an excellent opportunity for students who want all that a sixth month commitment offers but only have one week to spare.

We are delighted to inform you that American Sommelier has received additional sponsorship funding for our 6-day Intensive Viticulture & Vinification Course in Napa Valley. As a result, we are able to offer up to fifteen scholarships worth up to 50% of tuition ($1,500 per student)!!

The scholarship committee will take into consideration financial need, demonstrated interested in the study of wine, and motivation. Students from hospitality and non-industry backgrounds are welcome to apply. Scholarships will be awarded on a rolling basis.

For more specifics on the course and our scholarship opportunity contact Jessica Fusco or Ben Stonesifer Email: Jessica@americansommelier.com or BenStonesifer@americansommelier.com
